How to claim a prize
You solved it. Here's how the bitcoin gets from the prize wallet to yours. It takes about 15 minutes, and you don't need to know anything about crypto.
1. Send us your claim code
Email support@proofofsolve.com from the same email address you entered with your answer, with the claim code from the screen you saw when you won.
If you'd like, also tell us where you're from and the name you'd like to go by online, so we can share them when we announce the win.
We check it and reply with the prize wallet's passphrase, usually within 24 hours. Together with the 12 words you found, it opens the prize wallet. Keep it private until you've moved the prize.
2. Get Electrum
Electrum is a free Bitcoin wallet for Mac, Windows and Linux. Only download it from electrum.org: type the address in yourself instead of following ads or links, because fake copies are used to steal bitcoin. We will never send you a download link.
3. Open the prize wallet
- In Electrum, choose File › New/Restore, give the wallet any name (like prize) and click Next.
- Choose Standard wallet, then I already have a seed.
- Type the 12 words in clue order, in lowercase, with one space between each.
- Click Options. Choose BIP39 seed and tick Extend this seed with custom words. Click OK, then Next.
- On the Seed Extension screen, type the passphrase from our email exactly as written: lowercase, dashes included, no spaces. Click Next.
- When asked to choose the type of addresses, pick native segwit (p2wpkh). Leave the path as it is and click Next. You don't need "Detect Existing Accounts".
- Set any password you like. It only protects this wallet file on your computer.
Check: the balance should match the prize on our Puzzles page. If it shows 0, the address type or the passphrase probably didn't match. Delete this wallet (File › Delete) and go through step 3 again, typing slowly.
4. Move the prize to your own wallet
- Open the Send tab.
- In Pay to, paste a Bitcoin address from your own wallet. That can be another Electrum wallet, a hardware wallet or an exchange account.
- Click Max to send everything, then Pay… and confirm. The network fee comes out of the prize.
- Reply to our email with the transaction ID. In Electrum, open the History tab, right-click the payment and copy its transaction ID. We post it on the Puzzles page as public proof of the payout.
Do this soon after you get the passphrase. Once the prize is in your wallet, you can delete the prize wallet from Electrum.
